On September 11 everything was going normal until 8:46 that morning when a hijacked plane full of passengers crashed into the North twin tower. Many people thought it was just a horrible accident. But at 9:03 that same morning when a second hijacked plane crashed into the South tower, people knew they were under attack. The fuel from the plane caused both towers to catch fire killing many people. Then, at 9:37 am another plane flew right into the pentagon, killing 125 people. The final plane crashed on it's way to D.C. in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, when a passenger took control of the plane. That day the South twin tower collapsed and half an hour later the North tower collapsed too. Sadly 2,996 people died that day. But many people came together and rebuilt New York. Now two water fountains sit where the twin towers used to stand.

I visited the site of 9/11 in December after it happened. They were still pulling wreckage and debris out of the enormous hole that the twin towers left behind. The pit was so big that it looked like a canyon and trucks driving around near the bottom looked small. I can show you pictures of it!

Correction I was there in December 2012 not 2011, so it had been a whole year +4 months and they were still pulling things out of that pit!
