All animals are different so there is no way that we can tell how old an animal is the same way we find out how old another animal is. For example one way to tell how old an animal is, is the teeth. For instance the adult teeth do not come in until a certain age so if the animal has adult teeth then we know an animal at least has to be that old. Also if the teeth are worn down and decaying we know the animal is pretty old. Another way you can tell how old an animal is, is by looking at it's skin, hair, or fur. For instance as we get older our skin gets wrinklier and our hair turns to gray. Just like us as some animal gets older the fur or hair gets gray and the skin get's wrinklier. Also the muzzle of some animals get grayer as they get older. Another way to tell how old an animal is is by it's sight and hearing. As an animal get's older the sight and hearing may start to fail. Finally, one way underwater animals such as fish are tested to see how old they are is by the fishes ear bone. Just like the trunk of the tree the ear bone has growth rings. To examine this the animal has to be dead. Everyday we are finding new ways to determine how we can find out how old an animal is.
