Shooting stars have nothing to do with stars. Shooting stars are really little pieces of dust and rock. What happens is the little pieces of dust or rock, find its way to the Earth. When the pieces of rock come to the earth they start to burn. Sometimes Earth travels through meteor showers causing the rocks to come into the earth and start to burn. Even though they seem dangerous the rock usually completely burns before reaching the earth. Stars never actually come out of the sky. The stars can reach about 2,800,000,000 wide, which causes them to be seen clearly. So when you see a "shooting star" it gives off the same glowing effect that the stars have.
Humans have an instinct, an instinct to find babies cute. Babies have many features just like baby animals. That is why we find baby animals so cute. For instances baby animals have a round bodies just like babies. Also, they have big eyes in comparison to their heads. Finally, they have big heads compared to their bodies. When we find babies cute it's because of our instinct and our natural nature to take care of them. We want to cuddle with baby animals the same way we want to cuddle with human babies.Snow is made of water. Each piece of snow is actually just a little piece of ice. Snow flakes are mostly clear except for some parts that look white.

Some companies around the world are starting to give to children in need. For instance a man named Blake Mycoskie visited Argentina when there he noticed not many kids had shoes. When seeing the struggles kid without shoes went through he made his own company in 2006. His company is called Toms Shoes and for every pair of shoes they sold they would donate a pair to a kid in need of shoes. His company as donated about 75 million pairs of shoes. A benefit of giving to people in need is that it attracts more employees. When it does attract more employees they start to care more about all the people in need. Many people who have volunteered to help people start helping others on their own too. Many companies that donate things to people in need grow in sales. Many people who get help from the companies that are giving, become customers for that company. The glasses company Essilor has found that out quickly. Since 2007, the company Essilor has donated about 500,000 pairs of glasses. Many companies have found that when donating and the people they help become their customers it is a wonderful return on investment. |
Pictures are a great way to express how you are feeling. Today on almost all electronic devises with email or instant messaging there are emojis that you can use. Until 1998 everyone had no emojis and just simply used words to communicate. But in Japan in 1998 a man named Shigetaka Kurita invented the first emojis. He worked for a mobile communication company called DoCoMo. He was put to the task of helping make the first mobile internet system. In the first messaging system people were limited to 250 characters so he thought emojis would be a good way to communicate while still using little data. The word emoji means picture (e) character (moji). Soon all different Japanese companies were using emojis. It took a while to get the emojis to spread to other countries though. In 2010 when the emojis had already spread to other countries the different computer companies such as Google, Microsoft, Twitter, and Facebook, could finally develop their own emojis.

Aerogel is the lightest substance ever made by man. Aerogel is a solid. Aerogel is like gelatin but with all the liquid removed and replaced by air. Aerogel always stays one shape/form and does not collapse. It feels kind of like Styrofoam. Aerogel has a translucent appearance and that is how it got it's nickname "Frozen Smoke". Aerogel was invented through a bet between two scientists in the 1920s. To win they needed to replace liquid in a gel for gas while still keeping the original form. The three main types of Aerogel are silica, carbon, and metal oxide. One type of Aerogel is fireproof, another type is very absorbent, and another one is a great conductor of electricity. Many people have not heard of Aerogel because it is highly expensive to make. One pound of Aerogel can cost as much as 23,000 dollars. NASA has even used Aerogel for insulating electrical equipment. Aerogel is very expensive to make but they are one of the best insulators ever made.
All animals are different so there is no way that we can tell how old an animal is the same way we find out how old another animal is. For example one way to tell how old an animal is, is the teeth. For instance the adult teeth do not come in until a certain age so if the animal has adult teeth then we know an animal at least has to be that old. Also if the teeth are worn down and decaying we know the animal is pretty old. Another way you can tell how old an animal is, is by looking at it's skin, hair, or fur. For instance as we get older our skin gets wrinklier and our hair turns to gray. Just like us as some animal gets older the fur or hair gets gray and the skin get's wrinklier. Also the muzzle of some animals get grayer as they get older. Another way to tell how old an animal is is by it's sight and hearing. As an animal get's older the sight and hearing may start to fail. Finally, one way underwater animals such as fish are tested to see how old they are is by the fishes ear bone. Just like the trunk of the tree the ear bone has growth rings. To examine this the animal has to be dead. Everyday we are finding new ways to determine how we can find out how old an animal is.
